About Us

A Professional Food and Nutrition Care Platform in GB.

Established in 2017 and officially registered in 2024 under the Societies Act of 1860, FNSGB is a voluntary network of nutritionists, dietitians, food scientists, public health experts, and academic professionals. Our aim is to elevate the status of food and nutrition science across Gilgit Baltistan through advocacy, research, and community outreach.

Our Aim.

The objective is to represent, advocate for, and promote the field of nutrition to enhance the nutritional well-being of the population in Gilgit Baltistan. The organization will function as a professional entity operating solely on a non-commercial basis, devoid of any political or religious affiliations. Each member of the Executive Committee and other temporary officers of the FNSGB shall be protected against all losses and expenses arising from the lawful execution of their duties, funded by the resources of the FNSGB

Anwar Ali

Chairmen and current elected president

Ali Anwar Region: Gilgit Baltistan (GB) Date of Birth: 14-06-1996 Gender: Male. Ali Anwar has a PhD in public health and preventive medicine from China. He is currently serving as a research fellow in a European Union (EU)-funded project at the Institute of Human Nutrition Sciences, Warsaw University of Medical Sciences, Poland. He has worked for the following international organizations: 1- Ambassador for Nutrition Society UK in China. 2- Epidemiologist for Chinese Nutrition Society, China. Scientific achievements: He is serving as a researcher in improving public health and nutrition with more than 50 publications in world-renowned journals.

Munir Ahmed

Munir Ahmed born on 25th of Nov 1995 is a seasoned professional with a solid foundation in human nutrition, food hygiene, and traditional pharmacy. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Traditional Pharmacy at Jiangxi University of Chinese Medicine in China. His academic credentials include a Master's degree in Nutrition and Food Hygiene from Yangzhou University and a Bachelor's degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from Government College University, Faisalabad

Sakhawat Riaz

General Secretary

Sakhawat Riaz is a passionate PhD candidate in Tea and Health at Anhui Agricultural University, China, with a robust academic foundation in Food and Nutrition (MSc) and Human Nutrition and Dietetics (BSc). His research focuses on combating chronic non-communicable diseases through innovative nutritional strategies, bioactive compounds, and functional foods, with a special emphasis on tea’s health benefits. • Research Excellence: Authored 22+ peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals (Food Research International, Frontiers in Nutrition, MDPI Processes) and book chapters (Springer, Elsevier, IntechOpen), covering nutraceuticals, food safety, and disease prevention.
